Shimane Bank 100th Anniversary: "Gratitude & Energy" with Peonies
From the archive, May 17, 2015: a milestone celebration in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture.
I had the honor of performing at the Shimane Bank 100th Anniversary Celebration, held at Hotel Ichibata.
A Calligraphy Performance for a 100th Anniversary
The venue was Hotel Ichibata in Matsue City, where the bank marked a rare milestone—a full century since its founding.

Symbol of Shimane: The Peony
On the large paper on stage, I first painted vibrant peony flowers (botan)—the prefectural flower of Shimane and a symbol of prosperity and honor—setting a festive tone for the anniversary message to come.
"Zutto Kansha, Motto Genki" (Always Grateful, More Energetic)
Against this floral backdrop, I wrote the 100th-anniversary slogan: 「ずっと感謝、もっと元気」—"Always Grateful, More Energetic."
The phrase carries a deep message: to keep a heart of gratitude for a century-long "bond of trust" with customers, and to move forward with energy to develop the local region.

Connecting the Past Century to the Future
Gratitude for the century that had passed, and resolve for the future ahead—I poured both into every stroke of the brush.
Where the splendor of the peonies met the power of the words, the performance became a moment to share the story of a company that has walked alongside its region. My sincere wishes for the continued prosperity of Shimane Bank.
