Kawagoe City 90th Anniversary: "Tradition & Innovation"
From the archive, October 27, 2012: looking back on a commemorative event in my hometown, Kawagoe.
I performed the opening act for the "25th Kawagoe Industrial Expo," held to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Kawagoe City's Municipal Organization — a truly special day for me.

Opening the Industrial Expo for Kawagoe's 90th Anniversary
That year, my hometown of Kawagoe reached the significant milestone of its 90th anniversary of municipal organization.
At the opening ceremony of the "25th Kawagoe Industrial Expo," held at Kawagoe Sports Park, I delivered a large-scale calligraphy performance.
It was a great honor to stand on a stage celebrating ninety years of history.
Writing the Name of My City, "Kawagoe," on a Giant Panel
On a massive horizontal panel, I first painted a bright Red Sun, a symbol of Japan and of vitality.
Over the sun, I powerfully wrote the two characters of my beloved city, 「川越」 (Kawagoe).
Like a rising morning sun, I wished for this city to keep shining, full of energy, in the years to come.

Adding the Message "Tradition and Innovation"
Alongside the main characters, I inscribed the following message running through the whole work:
"Tradition and Innovation — Kawagoe: a city weaving tradition and a new future, created by a gentle flow."
Preserving the good of the old while evolving toward a new future — that is the Kawagoe I see.
With Gratitude to My Hometown
May the future of the people who live in this city shine brightly.
With deep gratitude and blessing for the city where I was born and raised, I poured my soul into every stroke.
I sincerely hope Kawagoe will keep shining as a place where history and the future intersect.
