Corporate Dinner in Yokohama: "Challenge" (Idomu) with Wadaiko
From the archive, June 22, 2016: a calligraphy performance at a corporate dinner event held at the Yokohama Grand Intercontinental Hotel.
It was a lively evening welcoming guests from overseas, and I had the honor of closing the party with a live performance.
Entertaining Guests from North America
The event was hosted by a major manufacturing company, welcoming guests from the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
As the grand finale of the party, I presented a calligraphy performance to share the spirit of Japanese culture.

"Challenge" (Idomu) with Wadaiko
For this stage, I performed an improvised session with the renowned wadaiko (Japanese drum) player, Yuta Kanazashi.
On a massive sheet of paper (over 2m x 3m), I wrote the character 「挑」 (Idomu – Challenge), which represents the company's management slogan.
Fueled by the powerful beats of the taiko drums, I poured my soul into the brushstrokes to express the spirit of taking on new challenges.

Calligraphy Connecting Cultures
As a token of hospitality, I presented framed shikishi (colored paper) bearing the character "Challenge" to the guests.
It was a joy to see the international guests delighted by this unique memento—a wonderful moment of cultural exchange through calligraphy.
You can find more of my performance work on the PERFORMANCE page.
