From the archive, July 28, 2013: looking back at a spectacular stage performance in the production "Sogaku Bibu" (奏楽美舞), held at the Shimbashi Yakult Hall in Tokyo.

A Symphony of Dance, Calligraphy, and Music

The concept of the show was "A magnificent symphony of beauty spun by dance, calligraphy, and music, transcending eternal time." A wonderful group of artists gathered to present a novel and unique stage experience.

The grace of the dance, the resonance of the music, and the instant strokes of the brush melted together into one space, building a world of beauty beyond time.

A Rare Collaboration of Four Calligraphers

Usually, I perform as a solo calligrapher collaborating with musicians. However, this stage was special. It featured a collaboration with other female calligraphers active in Japan and abroad.

For the grand finale, four of us took the stage together to create a unified masterpiece: (from left to right in the photo) Nanami Nanasawa, Mai Nakanishi, Lorelei Chang, and Chosho Yabe.

The synchronization of four brushes breathing life into the paper, accompanied by dance and music, created a breathtaking moment of artistic harmony, for one night only.

A New Form of Expression Born from Collaboration

Matching my breath with other calligraphers to complete a single work, so different from facing the paper alone, expanded the range of my own expression. The harmony born on stage was the true essence of this performance.
